Sunday Softness

Consider this a mini flashback. This is a trio of images from late May, taken at the gardens near Lake Harriet. Why am I featuring them now? Because I’m trying to focus on pleasant thoughts during a time when I’m especially irritated about our (lack of) house progress. Our basement was poured on two consecutive Fridays (August 5 & 12) and then nothing happened for over a week. So much for rapid progress.

The basement framing lumber was delivered on August 19th, so we eagerly revisited the site on Tuesday after our eclipse trip, expecting to see work done. Nope. Thursday I received a text that framing was starting that day and we needed to “decide” where we wanted the wall between my grow room and the garage storage, which we had told the builder about at least twice previously.

When we stopped by Thursday afternoon, not only had the entire perimeter of the basement been framed, but all of the low voltage wiring had been pulled and the glass doors and operable windows had been adjusted. Pause for a brief moment of celebration in honor of the first visible progress in nearly three weeks. That feeling of celebration doesn’t last. Just like these flowers, which are now a faded memory.
