My final stop on our last (and likely very last) snow day was the Ft. Snelling Cemetery. It proved to be challenging.
White headstones and white snow – so where’s the contrast?
Only the shadow knows. I started out on a sloped section of the cemetery, so I could get the tree shadows falling across the snow and the headstones. I should have gone a little later in the day, when the sun was higher, but I didn’t know how long the sun would stay out or how long the meager snow cover would last. Next I tried to include some deep blue sky, which I tweaked to near black when I processed the images as black and white.
These three images turned out okay, but they didn’t really wow me.
I guess my standards for wow are going up. But I kept at it and in the end I did get some images that I’m really happy with. More to come.
