Sweat it Out

All I got my mom for Christmas is a lot of sweatpants. Don’t worry, I’ve already given them to her, so I’m not blowing any secrets here. She was having trouble finding sweatpants with pockets and a comfortable waistband. Since I have access to the universe through my fingertips, via the internet, I decided to find some for her. It turned out to be a little more difficult than I expected.

[12132015]A19A1374I checked all of the likely online stores and even waded into the morass that is Amazon. No luck. Then I received an email from Duluth Trading advertising 20% off all orders plus free shipping. Lo and behold, they had women’s sweatpants with pockets. So I ordered one pair of each of three colors they sold, plus I threw in a nice zip up sweatshirt and sweat bathrobe. (There is such a thing)

All of the items were such a big hit, you’d think I gave her cashmere or mink. The sale was still on, so I went back and ordered her another pair in grey plus some nice SmartWool socks. When I delivered those, she mentioned that another pair in navy would be nice, as that was the color she was wearing the most. I can take a hint. When I went back to the website, I found that they were now offering 30% off, but no free shipping.

Paying for shipping with 30% off was cheaper, but I really hate paying for shipping, so I selected pick up in store instead, as they have a location nearby. Of course I’m a little ticked they upped the markdown after I had already placed two orders, but that’s the risk of online shopping this time of year. They are not the only site that’s done that to me, either. I placed two separate orders from another online retailer at full price and then they sent out a 20% off email. Fuck you.
