Anzac Day April 25

Happy Anzac Day! That’s the Australian equivalent of Veteran’s Day. We started it out by getting up at 5:00 to watch IndyCar live. Why, I don’t know, especially since Scott got punted to the back of the field early in the race. Especially disappointing after he was robbed of a win at Long Beach due to a bad call.

It looks like today is going to be pretty low key. A lot of things are closed for either the morning or the whole day due to the holiday. We won’t be able to get anything from the store until 1:00 and the restaurants that are open have a surcharge because they have to pay employees extra for working on the holiday. Australia’s civilized like that.

My experiment with using back focus on my camera went pretty well. I did fire off a few unfocused shots during the two days, but less than I’d expected. I can definitely see why so many photographers prefer this method. My husband switched a while ago and he’s never gone back. I don’t think I will either. Based on what I’ve seen during my chimping review, I think I have some really nice images from our road trip.

I went to the grocery store minutes after it opened and it was already crazy. Fortunately, I only needed to pick up some water, so I was in and out in five minutes. My husband had a hankering for pizza and since it’s a holiday, a splurge seemed appropriate. Of course that doesn’t justify all of the other splurges I’ve had on the trip so far. After we returned from lunch, I emailed my sister-in-law to check in. Unfortunately, Nola seems to have taken a turn for the worse. She’s back to being quiet and lethargic, which is so not like her.

I went over and took the dog for a walk and then went to the store to pick up some food for their dinner. It felt like the least I could do. Nola seemed to perk up a little before I left. She started talking and eating. Hopefully she’ll be back to her chirpy little self tomorrow.
