Stare Down

We got one bit of good news yesterday. The Watershed District administrator accepted our paperwork and released the permit. So we can proceed with building our dream house. That is, if we can afford it, which we won’t know for another couple of weeks. Meanwhile, I’ve managed to get all of my photos from Australia processed and I really need to start posting them.

5DSR3986Today’s theme is staring contests with Australian wildlife. When we visited the Hall’s Gap zoo in the Grampians, I photographed quite a few animals. What wasn’t apparent until I processed the photos was the number of dead eye stares I had captured.

5DSR3833Seriously, these creatures mean business. What are you lookin’ at?

5DSR3918This bad boy is a Cassowary. He’s like something out of a nightmare. Cassowaries have been known to attack people. They’re actually capable of killing people, although there’s only been one instance of that happening. And to be fair, it was a kid who was trying to kill the bird. He ended up with a slashed jugular. The cassowary has a razor-like claw on its middle toe. This one was safely behind a fence, but he kept a close eye on me.

In addition to the enormous backlog of photos from Australia, I also have some excellent cemetery photos from my outing with Jane on Thursday. The photo drought here on JustJacque has officially ended.
